26c3 Honyaki with Lace She-Oak and Ringed Gidgee
High tip profiled gyuto in Spicy White (26c3) a high carbon steel capable of high hardness and keen edge retention. This blade has also been differentially hardened with a tested edge hardness of 64.5hrc. The hamon was intended to compliment the 'flame' like qualities of the lace She-Oak handle, the success of which can only be judged by others.
This blade has been convex ground with near continuous distal taper to create an extremely fine and sharp tip and cutting edge. The primary bevels have been highly polished to show off the hamon and the spine and choil rounded and polished for comfort. The edge has been sharpened to 4k on whetstones.
The handle is a western style hidden tang with a brass bolster, black g10 and brass spacers and stunning lace She-Oak. The handle has a number of facets to sit comfortably in the palm of the hand while also providing exceptional control. The knife balancing at the makers mark ensuring lightweight high performance.
This knife also comes with a highly figured Ringed Gidgee Saya. The sheath has been lined with leather to better protect the highly polished blade and has an internal soft pine frame for edge protection and an external black g10 frame that has been heirloom fit to the Ringed Gidgee side pieces. The brass pin is tapered to ensure a snug fit over time and use.
This is a high hardness, keen edged high performance knife and as such care must be taken to protect the edge (i.e. please do not cut frozen foods).
